“Through the art of photography and videography, I believe that creating meaningful visual narratives not only captures treasured moments but also strengthens community bonds and advocates for environmental and social causes, ultimately contributing to a more connected and purposeful life.”
My work philosophy is intricately woven from a tapestry of experiences, values, and aspirations that have shaped my life’s journey. Serving as both a nurse and a leader in the Air Force and Army has deeply ingrained in me the principles of dedication, resilience, and compassion. These experiences have not only molded me as a professional but also instilled a profound sense of responsibility towards others. With two combat tours in Afghanistan, my commitment to nurturing and leadership became my calling, manifesting in the care I provided to my fellow service members.
However, as life progresses, our callings often evolve, guiding us towards new avenues. For me, this evolution has led to the picturesque landscapes of Troy, Montana, where I am presently involved with forest conservation efforts, collaborating with the Yaak Valley Forest Council. This work is a testament to my deep-rooted love for nature and my commitment to preserving our environment for future generations. By restoring creek banks, I am actively participating in safeguarding the natural beauty of our region, ensuring that our wilderness remains a sanctuary for all who seek solace within it.
Transitioning from nursing to photography and videography has opened new doors for me to continue serving my community in meaningful ways. Capturing people’s memories through photography at weddings and events is not just a profession for me but a sacred duty. Each moment I freeze in time becomes a cherished memory for others, a token of time that can be relived over and over. Furthermore, my aspiration to assist small businesses and conservation groups through engaging promotional videos reflects my desire to give back to my community. These visual stories are not mere marketing tools—they are vital lifelines for businesses striving to thrive, as well as powerful narratives that can attract grants and support for conservation initiatives.
My commitment to this new direction extends to my personal life, where exploration and documentation of the wild are my passions. The trails, lakes, rivers, and streams offer endless opportunities for discovery, feeding my soul and inspiring my creative endeavors. This harmonious blend of work and personal pleasure allows me to utilize my skills and passions to enrich my life’s second act, exploring national parks and documenting their splendor through my lens and writing.
Ultimately, my work philosophy revolves around making a difference—whether by capturing a couple’s happiest day, enhancing a business’s outreach, or advocating for environmental preservation. Each project I undertake is a building block toward creating a meaningful, fulfilling life. By aligning my professional endeavors with my passion for photography, conservation, and storytelling, I aim to live a life of purpose and joy, strengthening my bond with my family and our shared love for exploration.
In envisioning my future, my greatest aspiration is to balance these professional goals with personal fulfillment. Spending valuable time with my wife and grandchildren, while engaging in the work I love, epitomizes the meaningful life I seek. This is my true purpose: to foster a legacy of memories and contributions that transcend time, at the intersection of personal joy and professional responsibility.
